Bitcoin (original, until August 2017)

The world’s first cryptocurrency, about which much has been written. During its existence (until August 2017) it went from a few cents to several thousand dollars. For a long time it remained faithful to the original code and did not undergo significant changes, although in many ways it was inferior to more modern cryptocurrencies in terms of technical characteristics.

The most serious problem with the original BTC was the low bandwidth of the network. As the currency became more popular, this began to affect the speed of payments. In May 2017, their time was sometimes as long as a day. The result of these problems was a radical change in the protocol of the currency (hardfork) in August 2017 and its division into two branches – the official updated Bitcoin (BTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
